At Riverside Federation, we believe that Physical Education is an important part of our curriculum which inspires our pupils to succeed and excel in sport and other physically demanding opportunities. We strive to make our PE lessons engaging and inclusive to all of our pupils. We want all of our children to find a love of being physically active and we want to provide them with opportunities to take part in as many competitive and non-competitive events as possible. We ensure the children all have the opportunity to achieve their own personal best and instil the desire within them to challenge themselves.
We believe that having the opportunity to compete in sport helps to build character as well as embedding values such as respect. Our children learn, alongside their learning in Science and PSHE, about how to lead healthy and active lives.
Our curriculum is progressive and so allows our children to develop their fundamental skills and then apply these to various sports and activities. Our children are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular sporting activities within school, and we celebrate successes that they achieve outside of school.
